That's the final talley. With the youngest one having turned 18 and graduated from high school,

the obligor's duty to pay child support for a child shall automatically terminate by operation of law.

Since 2001, I have paid $118,644 in child support. That does not count 1/2 of private school, 1/2 of medical expenses, or half a million other miscellaneous expenses. What would I have done with $118,644? Water under the bridge. While there's still half of college to cover, it's not going to her anymore. It's over now.

It's over now. Some decisions you make at 24 will continue to have repercussions at 48. Don't think I would do it again.

Someone really should do something about this. Women at risk of living life is just unacceptable.
Maybe the platter should be made bigger and more silvery.
Alphas do, betas explain.

Congrads for surviving that, ranome.

I never did a running tally. I knew it would just depress me. And living with only seeing the kids on the weekends and having to pay their Mom for the privilege was depressing enough.

If you want to end up even more depressed.

Take that number:

Multiply that number by 45.

That is what you would have if you earned 10% interest a year in the stock market for 40 years.

I paid about 100 $ for a vasectomy (we have a great health insurance system here that covers almost every bill). Enough said ?

I am one of the lucky ones. I have been divorced for 10 years, and have so far racked up $0 in child support.

We were both working and earning a similar amount, and we took 50% custody, week about.

Let me tell you, this is the way it aught to be for everyone.

I don't mind paying child support at all. She's a great kid and she's got brains. In fact I splurge on her as much as I can.
I see her almost every day as I pick her up from the bus stop and spend the afternoons with her, and she spends time with me on the weekends while her mother sees her boyfriend. I wouldn't want custody because it's a woman's job to take care of children. I spend a lot of my time at work and I like my alone time as well. This forces my ex has to be the strict parent and I get to be the fun parent! >:) My daughter and I both have a twisted sense of humour so we adore each other. She thinks I'm crazy as fuck but still loves the hell out of me. When she gets older and hears that I go to strip joints and vacation in countries known for cheap women, she'll just roll her eyes, smile, and say, "That's Papa!" My goal in life now is to not give a shit like Bill Murray in St. Vincent.

It's actually best to have a child being raised by mom & dad, not just mom.

Regarding the OP, that's an insane amount of money and is a glaring reminder why I'm single and have never married.

The constant is that there is no constant , the universe is dynamic and ever changing , so hence change is the constant.

Sometimes we make a mistake.
I didn't knock you a girl when I was young and dumb.
Got a vasectomy when I was older and then went and blew all that saved money on this.

Fuck yeah, Phathack! I got to drive one of the V8 versions once. It wasn't for me-- Too luxurious! Man is that beautiful though-- There were a couple at a car show here a few days ago. But when you see one in the wild your eyes bug out-- Its a treat.

If you earned 10% per year, for 40 years, you must have a crystal ball to pick the winners, because the stock market doesn't go up 10% every year. Heck, it's barely recovered from the losses from the 2008 crash and its crashing again.
